“Curiosity cures the client.”
Clinical Approach
I began my clinical career working with incarcerated individuals. Throughout most of my career I have had the privilege of learning about various clinical presentations.
Many of the individuals I work with have had past diagnosis or an understanding they have depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, PTSD and bipolar disorder. As time has passed, I have began to understand the mental health symptoms an individual has as a result of underlying experiences in their lives.
My clinical curiosity got the best of me and I began to explore how I could help individuals bridge the gap between their life experiences and their learned behaviors.
I have had the privilege of being trained in brainspotting. Using the somatic experiences of our discomfort and the power of our eyes, this clinical approach allows an individual to explore their world and gain a better understanding of themselves and the impact experiences. At the same time, allowing the brain to heal from the impact created in their lives.
Along with brainspotting, I use elements of DBT, CBT, motivational interviewing and trauma focused treatment..
Brainspotting
Created from EMDR, brainspotting provides a framework in which clients can explore adverse life experiences stored in the body. It’s a gentle approach to help release stored experiences and heal the nervous system.
